SEAGATE RECOVERY SERVICES DELIVERS NEW DATA ERASURE

SOLUTIONS FOR SECURE DATA LEAK PREVENTION AND REGULATORY
                              COMPLIANCE OF CORPORATE DATA ASSETS

Three New Seagate® Data Eraser Products Enable Companies to Better Control Data
Privacy and Security; from Erasing a Single Disk to Providing Network-Based

Erasing/Recycling of a Large Inventory of Disk Drives

Santa Clara, Calif. - April 7, 2008 − Seagate Recovery Services, a Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX) company, today announced the availability of three new data erasure
solutions to enable companies to address privacy and data security issues when disposing of or recycling IT equipment.  The Seagate Data Eraser products utilize a series of
advanced algorithms to erase all data from a disk drive so that proprietary and sensitive information does not get into the wrong hands.

For many industries, legal regulations, such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), govern the handling of
proprietary, sensitive or personal information. With personal and corporate data
increasing at exponential rates and more sensitive information located on local PCs or
notebook hard drives, organizations need to properly dispose of data so that they do not
expose themselves to potential legal liability or in some cases, possible criminal
    prosecution.

The Seagate Data Erasure products deliver among the fastest erasing speeds and

outstanding control functions in the industry, and also provide a Certificate of Erasure so
organizations can confidently dispose of or recycle a hard disk drive knowing that data
has been erased. The products offer a choice of 13 data erasure programs, including NSA,
DoD, US Armed Services, NCSC, NATO and Gutmann recommended methods, and are
highly suitable for a variety of uses from erasing a single disk to providing a network-
based solution for erasing a large inventory of disk drives. The Seagate Data Eraser
    products include:

Seagate Data Eraser - USB Edition: a portable, hand-size device that can be

connected to any PC to access and erase a disk drive.

Seagate Data Eraser - Network Edition: a software-based solution, ideally

suited for corporate IT departments, installed on a server that can erase data via

corporate intranets on selected disk drives.

Seagate Data Eraser - Disk Recycler Edition: a software-based solution that is

designed for erasing large numbers of disks over a network connection.  This is

ideal for businesses that recycle their computers.

“Our internal studies show that more than 50 percent of drives returned from customer

data centers were not properly erased and still contained corporate data. With the growing amount of information kept on personal computers, sensitive customer and corporate data must be securely managed from the time it is created until it is destroyed,” said Jay
Remley, president of the Seagate Recovery Services business unit of the Seagate Services
Group.   “A thorough internal data security process that utilizes the Seagate Data Eraser
products will help organizations remove corporate data leaks and avoid the consequences of improper data disposal or access.”

Seagate Technology today also announced its Cheetah® 15K.6 FDE hard drive, designed
for data-at-rest protection in enterprise environments.  The new self-encrypting drive
protects access to data automatically when the drive is powered down so the security goes
anywhere the hard drive goes - whether it is moved, stored, or retired, to provide best-in-
class protection against the possibility of a data breach.  For more information, visit
