Seagate Launches i365, A Seagate Company, Unifying Its Services Businesses Under New Operating Structure To Ensure Agility, Speed And Efficiencies In Going To Market

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Sept. 23, 2008 – Seagate (NASDAQ:STX) today announced a comprehensive rebranding of its EVault , MetaLINCS, and Seagate Recovery Services companies, which were operating as a division of Seagate under the name Seagate Services. Collectively these companies will now be formally known and unified as i365, A Seagate Company. Under this operating structure i365 has the agility, speed and efficiency to meet customer data management needs with its software, software as a service (SaaS) and managed service solutions, while continuing to be backed by the resources of an industry-leading corporation.

i365, A Seagate Company, focuses on the unique needs and expectations of small, mid-size and enterprise companies. The “i” in the name represents information—reflecting the company’s mission to provide businesses with protection, control and management of their business critical information and “365” for our commitment to be reliably available and accessible to our customers, both for their information and for our support.

The value proposition of i365 is to offer a combination of innovative technology, trusted services and support, and choice in delivery, deployment and management of products and services—all with unparalleled customer service. Building on its customer base of more than 22,000 small, mid-sized and enterprise customers, and its eight global data centers, the company is poised to continue its growth in North America and its expansion within European markets.

In 2006, Seagate acquired ActionFront Data Recovery Labs, launching the creation of Seagate Recovery Services. In 2007, Seagate acquired EVault, which provides data backup and recovery software and software as a service (SaaS), the Open File Manager product line from St. Bernard Software, as well as MetaLINCS, which provides E-Discovery software, hosted and managed service solutions.

“The creation of i365 brings together the best of what each company has to offer,” said Mark Grace, general manager of i365, A Seagate Company. “As we evolve and expand our capabilities into new markets, it’s important to do so with an integrated identity that reflects our core values of innovative technology, trusted services and support, a choice in deployment management, and an unparalleled customer experience.”

The product offerings from i365 include i365 EVault Data Protection, enabling the protection and recovery of businesses’ mission critical data; i365 MetaLINCS E-Discovery solutions for first pass processing, content analysis, and review of electronic information for investigatory and litigation needs; and i365 Retention Management solutions comprising data recovery, migration, restoration and data management that bridge the needs of E-Discovery and data preservation.

In 2007, i365, A Seagate Company grew year on year revenues by 39 percent, beating industry estimates from IDC, which predicted the 2007 growth for data protection and recovery software and online backup services at 12.6 percent and 38 percent respectively, and forecast the 2007-2011 five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for the revenue of legal discovery and litigation support infrastructure market at 17.6 percent. i365, A Seagate Company, has over 500 employees worldwide, including expanded operations in North America and Europe.

“For companies of all sizes, managing growing amounts of data while satisfying stringent regulations for protecting and accessing it has become a major challenge. They must now look for proactive, cost-effective ways to protect, retain, and discover their electronic information,” said Laura DuBois, program director for IDC’s Storage Software practice. “i365’s software technologies and their flexible SaaS, hosted, and managed service delivery models, combined with appliance, service, and software upgrade paths position them well to succeed in this dynamic marketplace.”

i365, A Seagate Company, will be headquartered in Santa, Clara, Calif.
